Family Relief - Rainy River District

Family Relief is a program which allows families a needed respite period from the responsibility of the daily care of an individual with a developmental disability.

Who is Eligible

All families of children and youth with a developmental disability, up to the age of 18.

Who Provides the Relief

Qualified Family Relief Workers are screened and trained by Family and Children's Services. Each worker completes a First Aid and C.P.R. course. The family then chooses their worker(s) and trains them for the specific needs of their family member. Families are required to reimburse the agency a small portion of the hourly rate paid to the workers.

Where is the Program Provided

Family Relief is available throughout the Rainy River District. The service may be provided in the family's home, the Family Relief Worker's home, or in the community for planned activities - whichever the family or individual chooses. Hours for the family are preapproved by the Family Relief Coordinator.
