Family and Children's Services recognizes that volunteers play a valuable and integral role in the provision of service to children, youth and their families. Volunteers complement and enhance the service provided by our staff and assist in building bridges between our clients and the community.

Our Volunteers
Volunteers offer a great deal of personal experience and knowledge that is invaluable to our clients. They work alongside staff bringing their skills, energy and commitment to children in our district. Our ideal volunteers are: caring, responsible, mature, reliable, flexible, creative, enthusiastic, good with children and youth, respectful of the individual privacy of others and ensure that safe measures are always taken.
How our volunteers help:
These are some of the ways in which volunteers help at Family and Children's Services:
- Driver: The driver is a responsible for transporting children and youth safely to and from social activities, programs and appointments. We look for individuals who are reliable, punctual, possess a good driving record and enjoy spending time with children. Click here for current opportunities
- Special Friend: Special Friends provide guidance and support to a child or youth by developing one-to-one relationships through regular outings and activities. We are looking for individuals who can be a positive role model for a child involved with the agency. Click here for current opportunities
- Tutor: Tutors provide assistance to students who require extra help with school work. We are seeking individuals who are patient, reliable and have experience in the school environment. Click here for current opportunities
- Child Care Provider: We require volunteers to supervise and provide stimulating activities for children while parents attend a group program offered by the agency. Click here for current opportunities
